| MISSION 2180 - COOTAMUNDRA / BANKSTOWN / COOTAMUNDRA | |
SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST: 12th and 13th flights. Roslyn from Cootamundra needed to attend the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney for chemotherapy treatment which leaves her feeling unwell afterwards and the journey is a tiring 5 hour drive by car. This Angel Flight assisted in reducing the stress of the journey for her. Read about a previous mission for Roslyn (M2072) |

Angel flight 2 by Gary Weeks
Comment by Gary "There was a fair amount of low cloud and smog in the Sydney area for the leg positioning across to Bankstown this morning. This cloud was however burning off pretty quickly to make it a great day for flying. On arrival into Bankstown I went and met Roslyn and our Earth Angel Kayley Harris. That name would be familiar to anyone who lives in Sydney as Kayley was a popular and well known breakfast radio announcer for many years on 2WS FM 101.7. I certainly enjoyed listening to WSFM (and still do) and it was good to meet the person behind the voice and laughter that I had heard many times before. I apologise (Sorry Kayley!) for not taking the camera out to the car with me. After loading the bags it was time to get underway. There was a minimum of fuss getting out of Bankstown this morning, with no delay at all as I think a lot of aircraft decided not to fly during the run up to the APEC conference in Sydney. Once we had left the Sydney basin there was not a cloud in the sky giving us wonderful views with unlimited visibility all the way to Cootamundra. As it was nice and smooth at 6000’ I stayed down low to give us great views all-around and to keep us out of the worst of the forecast headwinds. Once well and truly settled into the cruise I was able to get Roslyn a Cappuccino and an orange slice biscuit for morning tea. It was a lovely flight again today and an absolute pleasure to go flying in an attempt to help real people. My flight home to Camden at 9000’ was also as smooth as silk and a non event."
