Angel flight 1 by Stephen White
Comment by Stephen "The weather on this mission was very poor. We saw the ground three times - that's only because there were three landings! In view of the forecast weather we flew this mission as a two pilot operation. The automatic weather report at Armidale was "overcast, 300 feet".
We carried out an RNAV approach and got visual at the minima. Airborne from Armidale with our passengers on board we were in the cloud again immediately after take-off. Arrival into Bankstown the cloud wasn't so bad but we had a 20 knot crosswind.
Our passengers enjoyed their flight and Dylan slept for a large part of it. Into Brisbane, again overcast below our lowest safe altitude. We carried out a localiser approach to runway 19 since the glide slope was not available. We broke off the approach at 500 feet and flew to Redcliffe visually over water in rain. Another 20 knot crosswind greeted us at Redcliffe. Total time was 6.6 hours." |

Angel flight 2 by Steve Penfold
Comment by Steve "Dylan arived at Bankstown very excited about the aeroplane ride. Once equipped with his headphones and lollies this enthusiatic, happy little traveller settled down with mum for a bumpy ride to Armidale in strong North-Westerly winds.
The conditions did not phase Dylan, who slept most of the flight. Our traveller awoke after landing to a rather cold and blustery Armidale. Thanks to our AusCAP co-pilot Dominique and to Angelflight for providing an avenue to serve the community in such a worthwhile way. " |
