MISSION 773 - CHINCHILLA / ARCHERFIELD / CHINCHILLA

SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST: 38th & 39th Angel Flight.

Fifteen year old Kayla had a failed kidney transplant, and is now back on home dialysis. She still needs to receive regular medical treatment at the PA Hospital's Dialysis Unit (Brisbane). From Chinchilla, Kayla and her mother frequently make the lengthy and monotonous trip down by road transport twice weekly. Kayla's mother is a sole parent with another child to care for.

This Angel flight was to save them a trip to the hospital by car.

Kathy Fraser (pictured below in the pink top) volunteered to accompany Trevor as a “pilot helper” for this flight. She came along purely for the experience, and had the following to say:

“Just a note to thanks to Angel Flight and Trevor for the opportunity of travelling on an Angel flight. It certainly brings home how remote the people are who require medical treatment.

Little Kayla is certainly an inspiration with her cheerful disposition, considering the suffering and uncertainty in her life.

I would gladly welcome an opportunity to repeat the experience should the flight be offered to me in the future.”

Comment by Michael
"Well, everything went as planned. What a lovely lass Kayla is - my heart
went out to her - all the trauma she has to contend with. Pam is the
devoted Nanna and Jesse, well I'm not too sure whether he liked the flying
thing or not. Both he and Kayla spent most of the flight home to
Chinchilla snoozing. There was a photo opportunity tho' when Kayla woke
up and asked me "when will we be home?" Here is the "happy snap".

Thanks for the opportinity to make a contribution to your wonderful
organization."
