"The weather was a bit on the grumpy side with an instrument departure needed out of Archerfield. But not for long and very soon Scott Hutchison, who came along as co-pilot, and I were in smooth air well and truly on top. Chinchilla, however, has no instrument approach so not long outbound from Oakey we started our descent to lowest safe. The cloud was somewhere between scattrered and broken and we were easily able to descend visual through a large hole and continue under a comfortable base to Chinchilla.

Kayla is looking very well and very smart in a new beret. She met us with her wonderful grandmother, Pam, and we were soon back in the air, climbing through the broken cu to cruise on top. With all the fantastic cooperation that we always receive from ATC, we were soon set up for the Archerfield NDB approach but popped out to be visual before the approach even began. Archer Tower gave us a change of runway without our needing to ask and we landed on 10L with a short taxi to my hangar up the western end. Great to see Kayla looking well and in good spirits. "
