SUBSEQUENT
TRIP. Second visit to RCH for Ben diagnosed with Myelodysplasia
(a life-threatening disorder of the bone marrow and a pre-leukaemia
condition) has undergone a bone marrow transplant at RCH Melbourne
in May 2003. The family relocated from Mildura to Melbourne
for a seven month period whilst treatment was undertaken.
The young 15 year old needs to be monitored at RCH in Melbourne
on a monthly basis. The family are financially disadvantaged
and dependent on Centrelink / Social Security support only.
Together with an unreliable car, the drive from Mildura to
Melbourne is physically very demanding for the family.
