MISSION 58 - COONAMBLE / ORANGE / COONAMBLE

Maureen has had two mitral valve replacements (heart surgery) and has been well up until receiving a cancer diagnosis in November 03. She has had a right mastectomy and is currently receiving chemotherapy in Orange. This usually means travel the day before treatment and travel the day after. The side effects of the treatment begin on the return journey, which include nausea and vomiting. Orange Hospital does not have accommodation on site so Maureen has had the added expense of two nights accommodation. This was Maureen's second trip to Orange.

Read a past flight for Maureen.

Dave Thompson - Pilot

Angel Flight by Dave Thompson

"Mobil dealer at Parkes supplied fuel at a discount when asked by me. Maureen travelled extremely well, and the Earth Angels, Ian and Sheila were of excellent value.

Heavy turbulence on descent, required a slowing to reduce the effect. Other than that, all persons who saw the Angel Flight insignia were very helpful."

This was Dave Thompson's first mission of which he did both Angel Flights.

Earth Angel report by Ian Bell

Everything worked out well on Thursday. I had forgotten to ask Dave where he would park initially but we were still able to meet he and Maureen as they were walking into the terminal building. There was just enough time to show Maureen the view from Mt. Canobolas before delivering her to Anson House.

Neville came to say hello to her as she was finishing her treatment, though Cecily had a doctor's appointment and was unable to be with him. Maureen is the kind of person that makes us feel we can't do enough to make her stay more cheerful. Sheila gave her a cup of tea at her unit, on the way back to the airport. We would have enjoyed showing her more of Orange had time permitted, and look forward to seeing her again, when we hope she gets very good news.

Best wishes to you all and keep up the good work, Sincerely, Sheila and Ian.
